What eFTI means for economic operators
The eFTI Regulation creates a uniform legal framework for exchanging regulatory freight information electronically between businesses and public authorities across the EU. Authorities will be obliged to accept information made available through certified eFTI platforms — economic operators choose whether to go digital, but those who do must do it right.

Ask a specialistIs using eFTI mandatory for economic operators?
No — for economic operators, making information available electronically via eFTI is voluntary. What is mandatory is that competent authorities in every Member State accept regulatory information when it is provided through a certified eFTI platform. In practice, many shippers and customers will expect digital documents, so early preparation is a competitive advantage.
Which documents and information are covered?
eFTI covers regulatory information requirements in EU and national law relating to the transport of goods — for example consignment notes (such as CMR), dangerous goods information, waste shipment documents and cabotage evidence — across road, rail, inland waterways and air.
What is a certified eFTI platform?
An eFTI platform is an ICT solution used to process regulatory freight information. To be accepted by authorities, platforms and the service providers operating them must be certified by accredited conformity assessment bodies against the functional requirements set by the regulation.
How do authorities access our data during an inspection?
Authorities access the information through national eFTI Gates using a unique electronic identifying link — typically presented by the driver or crew, for instance as a QR code. The data stays on the certified platform; the authority retrieves only what it is entitled to see.
How long does it take to become eFTI-ready?
Most mid-sized operators complete assessment, design and implementation in four to six months. Timelines depend on the number of transport modes, document types and systems involved — our readiness assessment gives you a precise estimate.
